1. Study predicts sharp increase in bioplastics production, leading by Asia

European Bioplastics’ annual market data predicts that, the bioplastic plastic mould production will greatly increase in four years, reach 6.7 million tons in 2018. The data was announced on the 9th European Bioplastics Conference in Brussels, the prediction is basing on the 2013 output 1.6million tons. The study was compiled in cooperation with scientific partners the Institute for Bioplastics and Biocomposites in Hannover, Germany and the Nova-Institute in Hürth.
Biobased, non-biodegradable plastics, such as biobased polyethylene and biobased PET, is appearing the biggest increase, and local produced renewable and compostable plastics are more likely to be benefit by the new European union   directive on the reduction of shopping bags.
European Bioplastics chairman François de Bie said: “Flexible and rigid package remains by far the leading application field for bioplastics.”
"Besides this, a decisive growth can be observed in textiles and automotive injection mold applications. From functional sports garments with enhanced breathability to fuel lines — bioplastics are constantly spreading into new markets.”
The study found that Asia will expand its role as major production hub. Most of the currently planned projects are being implemented in Thailand, India and China.
"We urge the EU legislators to consider and make efficient use of the immense environmental, economic growth and job creation potential of our industry. In this context, the Circular Economy Package should remain in the Commission’s 2015 Work Program and the Waste Target Review should proceed as planned,” de Bie added.

A successful project for industrial equipment handle grip over molding tool

This is 2 sets of over molding tool WIT MOLD built for industrial equipment mold  handle grip, the first shot hard material is PA-GF30 and second shot over molding material is blue TPE, part weight is totally 293g+52g, the mould size is 396*596*480mm & 346*496*420mm, the mold weight is 854kg & 600kg. The build time is 7 weeks and after the 3rd trial the customer approve the mold.
The mold applies Hasco standard. Injection scheme is cold runner sub-gate. Over molding the part with two separated mold, 1st mold create the handle body and secondly put the body into the 2nd mold to do the over molding

Prodways release 9 new product on Euromold

On Nov 24th 2014, the 3D printing company Prodways—which a subsidiary of French engineering company GroupeGorgé, unreleased 9 brand-new 3D printer mould and material.
At first, Prodways release a new 3D printer brand—Promakers, there are two series in it, the L series using Liquid photosensitive resin and V series using composite material.
Prodways released nine new products in these two series to meet the diverse needs of the market, of which 8 are L Series 3D printer, 1 are V-Series models. These products are used Prodways proprietary MOVINGLight technology, which combines UVALED and mobile DLP makes printing speed boost (10 times faster than the market standard), and print out parts have unmatched resolution and accuracy.
On EuroMold, Prodways will release its latest material brand --PLASTCureMaterials. These materials are developed by Prodways with its partners. Now has 14 kinds of different china injection mold materials, a total of about 20 kinds of products, most of which is the first appearance.

WIT MOLD attent Euromold show in December

EuroMold 2014 successfully held from Nov.25-Nov.28 last month in Frankfurt,Germany. WIT MOLD attent Euromold show as the china injection mold visitor.
EuroMold is the world’s leading trade fair for tooling and mould construction, design and product development. Based on the process chain “from design to prototype to series”, it presents products and services, technologies and innovations, trends and tendencies for the markets of the future.
WIT MOLD learnt a lot by visiting this show, including some new technologies and collected some important information for our company’s future development.
After the show, we also visited some customers in Germany. Seeing some molds running in our customer’s facility. We have known more about customer’s needs and will keep continuous improvement and make the progess year by year.

The machinability and mold life of injection mold have great relationship with the steel

The machinability and plastic injection mold life of injection mold have great relationship with the steel, so the mold steel is very important, generally saying mold steel must have below characteristics.
(1) High wear resistance
In order to improve the rigidity and mechanical property, glass fiber and inorganic filler are variously filled into plastic material use to reinforce the plastic material, they are injected into the mold cavity with the melted plastic in high speed, it causing a great wear to the mold cavity, there for mold steel should have high wear resistance.
(2)High corrosion resistance
 Lots of resin additive such as fire retardant, even the plastic material itself may be corrosive. When the resin material is mixed with filler, it could intensify the damage to the cavity, there for the cavity must apply chroming or nickeling.
(3) High thermo conductive
During the molding process, good temperature control is very important to the quality of the part. Usually copper alloy have better thermo conductive than steel, but it has lower elastic modulus, hardness and wear resistance. The low thermo conductive of steel can be compensate by cooling system.
(4) Good dimension stableness
In the molding process, the cavity temperature can be up to 300℃, great temperature difference can cause thermal expansion and thus cause the unstable of the part dimension, therefor heat-treated and pre-harden steel is preferred for better dimension stableness.
(5) Polishing ability
The surface quality of the plastic part is determined by the cavity surface quality. So the polishing ability of the steel is important for injection mold. The steel must have a good polishing ability and have no defect such as pore.
